Han Young

Kwang Ha Na, in English Han Young, grew up in South Korea where he learned to work with watercolor and to do pencil drawings at a local art institute.  In 1996, he received his Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from Hansung University in Seoul, South Korea and graduated with honors. His art career began at an early age shortly after graduating from college when he took a position as a graphic designer for AJOO Advertising agency.

He came to America in 2000 to study English and has remained here as a professional fine artist ever since. The beauty of nature in Florida particularly inspires his realistic renditions in oil, watercolor or acrylic paints.  He is a member of the Artists of Palm Beach County and has exhibited his work in a number of local galleries. He received awards from the Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta including the Mary Snow Corr Award of Excellence in 2005.

From January 2011 until March 2012, he worked as an instructor for A Unique Art Gallery in Jupiter, and he now teaches private art lessons in students’ homes.  He enjoys doing commissioned paintings through his business, ArtbyHan, and has currently branched out to paint murals as well.  Most recently, he completed a 14 foot by 11 foot Koi Pond, in concrete stains, on a client’s living room floor.

Artist Statement

My experience growing up in South Korea and studying traditional fine art in Hansung University has had an influence on my painting.  The natural world inspires me. My favorite subjects include landscape and still life, which I paint in oil, watercolor or acrylic media on canvas or the finest watercolor paper. Whether it’s cherries in a bowl, sandpipers on the beach, or an orchid in a tree, I strive to capture the most precise, accurate, detailed, and realistic representation of the beauty I see before my eyes.

Other artists inspire me, and I love to inspire others in return. I have enjoyed many learning experiences throughout my career and now receive great joy in being an instructor. Currently, one of my greatest satisfactions is in teaching private art lessons and seeing my students achieve.
